Yara Shahidi Wows in Retro-inspired Looks for Elle 2020

Yara Shahidi won recognition by playing Zoey, the eldest daughter on the series Black-ish and Grown-ish. The actress featured in Elle magazine’s August digital issue, followed by a backyard photoshoot starring herself in retro-inspired looks. In the article written by Kaitlyn Greenidge, Yara spoke about her place as a celebrity activist in the middle of the Black Lives Matter movement and deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and others. Yara Shahidi opted to take a more positive approach as she explained: “Joy is more important to me… Yes, this is a battle in the face of the Black death, but there has to be a celebration of Black life. We have to see this moment as the preservation of Black life. A fight for our enthusiasm to thrive, or a fight for our interest to be satisfied and unencumbered. A battle for our ability to be allowed to exist and that constantly has taken away. We should be allowed to recover, be allowed to enjoy our happiness.” She has been in the spotlight since her early teens in the middle of two cultural movements: Black Lives Matter and #MeToo and honors for commentary on thorny issues, including brutality race and class. Yara Shahidi flaunted her incredible figure as she posed in various outfits.
